Mindful/Intentional Parenting: Interactive and Practical Skills Workshop Series

Are you tired of feeling frustrated or at a loss of what to do when it comes to parenting?

Do you feel like you're constantly at odds with your child and it's leaving you exhausted?

Join this four-part workshop series that aims to equip parents with practical skills to use with their children aged 0-4, especially during challenging moments!

GOAL: by the end of the four weeks, parents will feel more confident in how they can build a more positive relationship with their children even while disciplining them.

Each week, we will meet for one hour to understand, learn, practice a skill and leave with scripted dialogues to use. Participants will be doing most of the talking and thinking under the guidance of Serena Fan.

Topics covered:

  • How to discipline in a mutually respectful way (ie. what to say instead of ‘No’);

  • How to handle fights, and;

  • How much "independence" to give to a child

Participants: Min. of 4 and max. of 8

Cost per person: HK$1,600

Date and time determined by the group (typically one hour session for four consecutive weeks)

Location: Hong Kong Children's Discovery Museum in Sai Wan Ho, unless someone can offer a rent-free conference room/office space that is more centrally located (ie. Central/Admiralty)

Participants must be willing to:

  • Interact with others

  • Try something at least once

  • Self reflect

  • Be open-minded and respectful of others

  • Share personal thoughts and opinions

  • Ask questions when confused

  • Complete simple "home tasks" (aka "homework")

  • Commit to all four sessions and arrive on time

About Serena Fan

Ms. Fan is an experienced and passionate early childhood educator who believes that young children should be provided ample time, space, and opportunities to develop their innate curiosities.

Prior to CDM, her professional experiences were in the United States, China, and Hong Kong, working in classroom settings (Harvard affiliated preschool, Causeway Bay Victoria Kindergarten and ISF Academy), education management, and family consultation. Ms Fan was awarded as a Gen.T Leader of Tomorrow for shaping Asia’s future in 2020.

Ms. Fan holds a Bachelors of Arts in Child Development and International Relations from Tufts University and a Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is also a licensed teacher in Massachusetts, USA.
